Hotels and restaurants to open for those who are already protected?
Tamás Flesch, chairman of the Hungarian Hotel & Restaurant Association, said that Hungarians already started to book accommodations for Easter and April in hotels within the country.
According to hellovidek.hu, the association would like the government to allow hotels and restaurants to open for those people who are already protected against the virus. Mr Flesch added on Friday that such measures would have a very positive impact on the sector. He said that Hungarians already started to book accommodations for Easter and after April in hotels in the country. He added that he would be glad if the government considered the opportunity to allow those already protected against the virus to visit restaurants and hotels again.
He said that the time of the re-opening depends on how many employees hotels and restaurants could keep during the lockdown period. However, if they received the green light from the government, he believes that
most places would be able to re-open in two weeks.
In the case of Hungarian hotels, Mr Flesch expects a step-by-step re-opening, meaning that hotels in Budapest will not be able to expect foreign guests yet. However, accommodations in the countryside could start to receive domestic and protected guests which could help the financial problems of the sector a lot.

As we reported before, the government denied in a January statement that hotels and restaurants in Hungary have to keep closed until Pentecost. Interestingly, Tamás Flesch said before that
“it is hard to imagine that they would be able to re-open before May.
Not only in Hungary but in other European countries as well, as all information on vaccination and the pandemic shows that restrictions will remain in effect for a while.”
He then added that everyone involved in this sector needs to be prepared, which is why they sent a letter to all hotels and restaurants to inform them. The letter said, according to the information provided by the government and the Association of Hungarian Travel Agencies, that current restrictions will probably remain in effect until Whitsun (23 May this year).
We collected HERE some beautiful new hotels planned to open after the pandemic in Central Europe. For example,
the astonishing Anantara New York Palace Budapest Hotel is expected to open its doors in 2021.
It will contain 185 guest rooms and suites. The accommodation will be centred around the cavernous atrium, while the ground-floor New York Café – named “The Most Beautiful Café in the World” – will remain the heart of the social scene.
